lustful legerdemain

It only snows on the nights I work. I got off [rimshot] at midnight to find the snow coming down sideways. A 3-foot deep drift had localised entirely on my windshield as if no snow had fallen elsewhere at all. The drive home was curious. The highways were unplowed and visibility was low, but there was a Jazz show on MPR that was soothing me with the sounds of samba. I often think about real life having a soundtrack, so I wondered in this instance what the conflict between the warm music and the stormy weather meant.
Almost home, but not across the freeway bridge over the Mississippi yet, the first squad car with its lights on appeared. More were to follow, and road flares. What this meant was obvious. It turned out to be a single car, facing the wrong way down the freeway, with a very compacted front end. Judging by the amount of snow piled up, it had been there awhile.
As I was crossing the river, I saw something very cool: Five huge snowplows covering five lanes of traffic, each plow a little bit more behind than the last, forming an angle congruent to that of the plow blades. I figured some sort of trifecta was in play at that point, and the kid I saw with a very snow-caked back (who had obviously slipped and fallen flat on his back) would have to count as the completion thereof.
But none of this is why I was even going to blog tonight.
At work tonight John was flirting with this hot Mexican woman. After she had walked off John announces, "I'm gon' git me some heeeeead." Then he extends his index finger and points at his [clean shaven] head. "Knowledge," he continued. "That's what you call it now."
Man, I haven't learned anything since October!
Right before I stepped out in the snow, I had walked past John talking to some white-girl customer. He was saying, "I'll be ready at 1:00." I turned around, pointed to my head and said "Knowledge." He laughed.
Footnote: I'd have used the British spelling 'plough' if I thought any of you would have understood what the hell I was talking about.
