If you're going to see one local opening act this year, make it Bridge Club. I saw them last night at the rockrockrock. This trio is all about the no-nonsense bass-blues rock and roll. Are you into this 70s rock revival? They deliver on that, too. Their guitar and bass sound hot (as in warmer than warm) due to their use of some analog pedals. I don't really understand why they are always the bridesmaid and never the bride. I think they are one of the most undervalued local acts. The two of their CDs I've got were self-recorded and unfortunately sound like shit. So, don't judge them without seeing them live. Also, I have to say, any venue that books these guys on an almost regular basis (The Turf Club) must have their head in the right place. I need to make an effort to go out to the midway and see some shows there in order to test my theory.
Also, I'd like to thank and re-thank the monster for the delicious sushi at Fujiya. Who knew hundreds of shiny bright orange flying fish babies make such a great condiment? Thanks for introducing me to warm sake, too.
P.S. My neverending Hollywood Video connections continue. They unlocked the doors and let me in just because it was me.
