leprechaun's lust for liquor

yeahfuckit.com has a fairly decent review of Guinness. I can't link directly to the review, so get it while it's hot.
He certainly did a good job in describing my sentiments regarding drinkability and, for lack of a better word, texture. All the jokes about Guinness being a meal, and thick, and etc are obviously propogated by people who have never had any. You can easily drink twice as much Guinness as say a shitty American light beer because Guinness isn't thick and it isn't gassy. I once earned myself a free pint (20 oz. mind you) by betting my friend I could slam my fresh pint of Guinness in one go. It goes down easy people.
My only criticism is that his points on taste are moot considering he did not try it on tap on the British Isles.

Your criticism may well be valid, however, guinness on tap in the british isles was not the drink I was describing, hence... I'll post a prompt correction as soon as you buy me a fresh guinness in the British pub of your choosing.

Tickets can be had betwixt Chicago and London for around 400, if lodging was outside London somewhere it would probably be a bit cheaper, could probably be done properly for around 1-1.2K per human.

Hmmmm... I have friends in London, Norway, and Germany. I'm not sure how long I could extend the welcome in London though. My research suggested it would take $2000 to do London properly. I have a big beer budget.

Hmmm, 2000 seems like a safe estimate, I think it could be done for much less, but 2000 would be a good amount to have at one's disposal for the just in case scenarios involving things like rented cars, kegs, public drunkeness fines, etc.
I dunno about you, but it's gonna be a damn long time before I have 2000 dollars, much much longer till I have 2k I can afford to spend
