So we're standing in line for the Fiery Furnaces / We Are Scientists show at First Ave (dear people who don't live here: PURPLE RAIN!) and there's these three young kids (two guys and a girl) standing in line just in front of us. We/us being Ian, Melissa, and myself. We were talking to these three about whether or not we were in the right line and stuff, and only moments after that conversation broke up the girl in the group keels over onto her side on the pavement, and then rolls over onto her knees, face planted on the sidewalk... while kind of groaning or something. A second later its over, and she's getting up and being asked if she's ok. She looked more embarrassed than anything, and the guys didn't look too shocked. We didn't know if it was drugs, or narcolepsy, or epilepsy, or she fainted or what. They kind of sat down against the wall, and we all waited for the line to move. Once the line started going again, she was up on her feet for maybe a minute or two before she collapsed forward and smacked her forehead on the concrete -- both douchebags she was with apparently too stupid to A) take her home after the first passout and B) catch her if this isn't an uncommon occurance. She comes to in a moment, and rolls over. She looks a bit more shaken this time -- probably having something to do with smacking her head on the ground. The guys are still asking her if she's alright or wants to go. I'm sorry, but the girl who just passed out twice probably isn't equipped to make that decision for herself you asses. The one guy finally realises she's in no condition to stand through a concert and starts to walk off with her, but she only gets like 20 feet before she drops again. I didn't see, but I think he kind of caught her this time. We got our tickets and went across the street to that Irish pub to burn the 2 hours until the first band started playing, leaving the girl and those guys still sitting on the ground where she last fell over. I still don't know what the deal was. There was never an ambulance though, so who knows. Gray showed up from the Red Dragon, and we went into First Ave. I have to say, We Are Scientists was pretty fricken good. They maybe even stole the show a little for me... but it'd be hard for the Furnaces to top their performance at the 400 Bar. I liked Eleanor's tight white Feist pants.

I fainted in public a couple times during a bad mushroom trip - much like the scene you described. Except my friends helped me up and kept me from really hurting myself. Fun times.

That's so weird! When I was at Body Worlds on Saturday, a teenaged kid a few people up in the line from me passed out while we were looking at... Oh, I can't remember. Bones, maybe. SciMuseum security was right there, and helped the guy up, but he fainted again about 15 feet up. And don't be too hard on the guys with her, most guys do not know how to catch someone who falls without warning.

How can it be? You just put your hand over her mouth so she can't scream and drag her into the van. Wait -- what are you talking about?
